Welcome back to our Speak of Thai, where you can learn a bit of Thai every week.

Today topic is really useful for business when you need your clients’ number. And of course, if you’re in love with Thai girl, you might wanna ask her number, right?

Just like the last Speak of Thai at our MuayThaiArt.com/weblog, I’m gonna go really slow and use a short dialog. You can easily memorize the whole dialog. However I’ll also break it down and tell you the meaning of each new vocab. That simple!

Let’s not waste time!

There are a few ways to ask for number. You can just choose one of them. No need to memorize all.

Excuse me! Can I have your number? = Koh Tod Krap! Pom Koh Ber ToRaSup Dai Mai Krap? (ขอโทษครับ ผมขอเบอร์โทรศัพท์ได้ไหมครับ)
Yes. It’s 081-234-5678. = Ka. Ber Soon Paed Nueng Song Saam See Ha Hok Jed Paed. (ค่ะ เบอร์ 081-234-5678)

What is your number? = Ber Kun Ber Arai Krap? (เบอร์คุณเบอร์อะไรครับ)
085-000-0000. = Soon Paed Ha Soon Soon Soon Soon Soon Soon Soon. (085-000-0000)

Leave me your number. = Ting Ber Wai Hai Pom Dai Mai Krap (ทิ้งเบอร์ไว้ให้ผมได้ไหมครับ)
Sure. 02-123-4567 = Dai Ka. Soon Song Nueng Song Saam See Ha Hok Jed (ได้ค่ะ 02-123-4567)

Here are some vocabularies.
Ber (เบอร์) = number
ToRaSup (โทรศัพท์) = telephone
Koh (ขอ) = literally to ask for
Dai (ได้) = sure!, ok!, no problem!

I think those are quite enough. Don’t forget to put it into practice. Everyday if you can. Learning a new language is all about practicing and working with it. If you have further questions, you can ask me in the comments. If you’re interested you can visit me at podcastthai.com where you can hear the real pronunciation which will make you Thai learning even easier.

See you next time with Speak of Thai at MuayThaiArt.com/weblog! สวัสดีค่ะ

In Thailand saying that you have some kind of an amulet, also called in Thai Krueng Rang Korng Klang, is totally normal. In Muay Thai, there are lots of amulets, such as Mongkol, Pra Krueng, Dhagrut, and Prajied. They have been sacred items and an essential part of Thai Boxer’s accessories. Many Muay Thai fighters still strongly believe that their amulets will help them win the fight and protect them from bad luck.

However nowadays saying that you believe in this kindda things might make you seemed to be too superstitious so it’s more like a personal matter. However all Muay Thai fighters must have 2 of these amulets which are Mongkol and Prajied. Some might think that they are Muay Thai equipments, but actually they are amulets that from time to time become part of the clothing.

So I’m gonna tell you what these two amulets, Mongkol and Prajied are.

Monkol is a headband worn on the head as a charm to bring wealth and to keep the boxer from danger.

Prajied is a band of fabric, normally red and white and might contains a small Buddha image. It’s worn around the upper-arm during the fight. It’s believed to persuade toughness and again help the boxer to stay away from danger.

Koh Kood

Hey guys! Today I’m gonna talk about my next trip! That’s right. I’m going somewhere again. I love my job man. I can go anywhere and come back to tell you all about it.

The place I’m going this time is called Koh Kood. This place is perfect for those of you who love traveling and chilling out among nature, like waterfall, sea and trees. I’m gonna tell you a short info about this island first.

muaythaiblog4-27-08 koh kood1

Koh Kood is located in the East of Thailand. The size of this island is about 105 sq.km., so it’s pretty big. It is a tourist sport because of its white sandy beaches and its crystal clear water. That’s why it’s nicknamed “The Andaman of the Eastern Sea”. Most tourists like to go to Tapaw Beach, KlongJao Beach, Klongrahan Beach, and Praw Beach.

In each beach, there are many private resorts and bungalows. The only inconvenient thing on this island is each resort is located on different beaches. So before you go, you should do a tiny homework about the island and memorize the name of the pier that will lead you to the exact resort.

So my plan there is really simple. I’m going to KlongJao Waterfall. It’s very well known for being the most beautiful waterfall in Koh Kood, in the middle of tree forest. Then I’m going to Klongjao Beach where I can sit and relax waiting to see sunset, quite idealistic right? The next day I might rent a boat to go snorkeling, seeing gorgeous sea corals.
Basically this place is really nice and peaceful, just the right place for loosen up from your hard work.

Go to Koh Kood once, you might fall in love with this place.

Next time when I’m back, I will tell you all about my experience in Koh Kood.
