There are a lot of films that involve boxing, in which there are pretty cool fighting scenes. I want to tell you every boxing film I know. Some of them I haven’t watched myself but I will just tell you what other people think about them.

One of the first great boxing movies is The Champ. The film is full of terrific scenes, such as comedy and heartbreaking sadness. The terrific story tells about an ex-champ, a washed-up, boozing and gambling prizefighter (played by Beery) and his sweet and wise son named (Cooper).

The movie also shows the beautiful friendship between the kid (Cooper) and his black friend which is such color-blind. It is so pure and touchy when in the movie the child said “He’s colored”. It might be because of King Vidor, the director of the Champ, who I find his movies are full of sympathy, human and compassion.

The Best Writing, Original Story Oscar! Because of this film, Wallace Beery got to share the Best Actor Oscar with Frederic March from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The Champ and the director, King Vidor, were also nominated.

I recommend you to watch this movie is not only because it involves boxing, but also the goodness and the advantages of the film that is full of heart and such adoring.

The plot of this story is about an ex-champion that became alcoholic and a loser who lost the gambling and ended up in jail realizes that he has to do something good for once for his beloved son. He thinks that it might be better if his son belongs to the mother, who gave her own child up after divorce but now rich because of her new husband. The son goes tearfully but sneaks out to see his father and always cheers him up. The ex-champ finally gets another chance to fight with the Mexican Champion after his manager arranged him a boxing match.

I started this article quite some time ago already and how clumsy I am, not having taught you how to ask for names in Thai. So now you know what our today’s topic is. This is the very basic.

I will make this very simple. All you need to know in this lesson is how to say “What is your name?” and “My name is…”. Wow this should be one of the most easiest lessons of our Speak of Thai.

There is one unique thing about Thai names. We mostly call each other by their nick name and the nick name has nothing to do with the real name. The reason is that parents will normally name their child with the name that has good meaning. And normally it is quite long 2-4 syllables. So the nickname does help. It is quite impossible to memorize people by their first name in the first time of introducing. The nicknames are mostly 1 or 2 syllables only. So it is much easier!

Let’s start now, shall we?
What is your name in Thai is “Kun Chue Ari Ka/Krap”. And then the answer will be “Chan/Pom Chue ….” For example, “Chan Chue Rita (Ka)” Or “Pon Chue Nick (Krap)”

The crucial word from this lesson is “Chue” means “name”. And the words for Nickname and Firstname are “Chue Len” and “Chue Jing”. The word for Last name is a bit tricking which is “Nam Sa Goon” and the word Nam Sa Goon can be used as a verb when you want to tell the others your last name, you say “Chan/Pom Nam Sa Goon…” which literally means “I last name…”

There are 4 methods or Cherng Muay of using of Muay Thai weapons which are fists, feet, knees and elbows to attack and defense. And Cherng Mud is just the start. What is HAK DAN LOM KROD? HAK DAN LOM KROD is the Thai Cherng Mud’s name for throwing the fists and elbows. This move is well used for attack, defense and escape. It is actually a two-step move, the first is you punch with a fist then soon afterward you will use your elbow of the same limb. Firstly, you as a boxer have to deliver a punch, straight and direct to your opponent’s left jaw with your right hand (if you’re right handed). Then after that, as you step forward with your right foot to get closer to your opponent, then you will deliver another blow, but this time with your right elbow. It can be directed at either the same target or at your opponent’s neck.

To guard: The boxer’s blows should be wiped to the left by using the left arm and the boxer can alternatively throw the tip of one’s foot to the boxer’s midsection.

To attack: Perform a quick right kick aiming to the boxer’s left rib. If the boxer uses his left fist instead of the right and also the left elbow to strike, in this case you must use your right arm to guard and protect yourself from the blows and deliver a swift kick to his rib with your left leg.
