Alright, are you ready for the Muay Thai Cherng Mud lesson? Today we are going to talk about a Cherng Mud called NAKA PON FAI KAN (let me tell you, what a name) I have no Idea how this name has to do with the move. NAKA means the god of the water, PON means to blow, FAI KAN means fire from hell.

Anyway, the Cherng Mud or Muay Thai’s punching moves are almost to the end. Once we finish with all of the Cherng Mud moves, we’ll move on to the Kicking moves. So stick with us for free Muay Thai lesson right from this blog, where you can step-by-step follow our instructions. This is a great way to learn Muay Thai at your own home.

NAKA PON FAI KAN is the name of the Cross Switch Punch. This 1-2-3 combination is mainly used for attack. The boxer first throws a left uppercut aiming at the opponent’s abdomen. He then takes a lateral step with his right foot to deliver a straight blow with his right arm, this time aiming for the opponent’s chin. This is immediately followed up with another punch to the chin, this time with the left fist.

To Attack: In order to avoid this dangerous combination, one should move away from the aggressor to increase the distance between the two and then keep your opponent from throwing consecutive kicks and punches. After stepping back making more space and gaining your composure, forcefully throw your left foot towards the boxer’s vulnerable or unguarded areas. Don’t defense yourself too much until you can’t perform any attacks.

To Defense: If the distance between you and the attacker is not great, you can throw your right knee to your opponent’s abdomen as a counter-attack. If he is a left-handed, reverse the moves from one side to another.

As you know the great event next week on July 26 is a fight between two warriors, Cotto and Margarito. Who is going to beat whose ass up?

Margarito is a highly dimensional boxer who will fight until he drops. He will keep punching and go forward. On the other hand, Cotto sure can box and bang, alright. He can be too much for Margarito. Who knows?

Welcome back to MuayThaiArt.com! I apologize for the delay. I intend to post all the articles in this blog ahead of time but lately there are so many things going on. So I might have disappointed some of you who regularly visit our blog for useful articles like this one.

We still continue today with the Muay Thai’s 15 Cherng Mud. They are the punching moves that you need to learn for Muay Thai. When we finish with the Cherng Mud or Thai Boxing’s Punching Moves, we’ll move on to the kicking. Don’t miss this. It’s 100% free!

So today’s Cherng Mud is called ONGKOT KUANG PRAKAN (”KUANG” in Thai means “twirling”). This move is also known as the Twirled Fists. I’ll tell you a little bit what it is then how to perform this move step-by-step to make it easy to follow.

This move is particularly useful when the opponent fights and afterwards begins to escape or withdraw after executing a technique. As he starts to step back, the boxer should take advantage of this good opportunity to make a good attack with both left and right punches, aiming for the chop line.

To Attack: Use both your hands to guard against blows coming from both sides. Never relax your arms as blows to the jaw can be damaging. Keep your head down and continue to move back as you prepare for a counter-attack.

To Defense: Since, once you’re in this situation, there is a very slim chance for you To Defense act the blows being thrown by the attacker, given that both your arms are locked into a defensive position as the boxer throws left and right punches, your only resort would be to make use of your lower body. You can throw your right or left foot to strike the attacker’s midsection.

The Set-Up (1949)

Welcome to MuayThaiArt.com! Are you ready for another great boxing film to watch? Today’s film that I’m going to recommend you today is one of those oldies. You might have heard of this movie before.

For me this movie is really inspiring and it gives the message of “not quitting”. Don’t listen to anyone that says you can’t do something if you believe you really can. It is also a great love story.

The Set-Up is an American black and white boxing drama. The director, Robert Wise, made this in what appear to be real time. The drama features Robert Ryan, Audrey Totter and others.

The film tells about the boxing gangland, the tank-town circuit led by mobsters where up-and-comers get their jaws and has-beens rent themselves out as fresh punching bag.

The Set-Up poster from Wikipedia

Here’s the plot of the movie I got from Wikipedia
Stoker Thompson (Robert Ryan) is a 35-year-old once used-to-be boxer. His promising fighting career has now come to the end. Even his wife is the first one who what him to end this career soon before he gets beaten up to death. Tiny (George Tobias), Stoker’s manager, is sure that if Stoker still keeps fighting, he sure continue losing in every fight. That is when Tiny decides to earn dirty money from a mobster. And sure that Stoker doesn’t know about this evil set-up plan.
At the beginning of the last round of the 4-round vicious bout with much younger and heavily-favored Tiger Nelson (Hal Baylor), Stoker knows about the set-up. However, he refuses to give up the fight and mashes on.
In the end, he defeats Nelson, but Little Boy who is behind all this fix get Stoker’s right hand broken as punishment.

Quite interesting old movie, don’t you think? Don’t forget to check out this film near your house. This one great quality film won’t let you down.
