So we’re back with the Muay Thai Cherng Sok right here. There are 24 of them and now we are at number two Cherng Sok called SOK FAN NAH. Our website is one of a very few website representing you this knowledge of Muay Thai. So if you stick with us, you will know all four Cherng Muay in Muay Thai. Basically is how to use all of the 8 Muay Thai weapons as effectively as possible.
Cherng Sok is how to use the two elbows as the weapon. We are explaining you next what this move is and how to do it. You can practice this by yourself at home or if you have Muay Thai trainer at the gym you enter, he will definitely help clearing and perfecting you with the move.
Let’s take a look at what this move is all about.
SOK FAN NAH is basically the Front Elbow Strike. This technique, used for attacking, defending or even escaping, is executed by throwing the right elbow to the opponent’s face or shoulder blade from a shoulder-level position. A quick bend of the arm and the inner wrist, plus a close proximity to the opponent, are required to deliver this powerful attack.
How to deal with this move as an attack: Your left arm should be held with the right arm to control any consequent move or attack.
On the other hand, if your opponent is defending by this move, here’s what to do: As the boxer is facing his left while he delivers or attempts to deliver the front elbow strike, the opponent can counter the attack by throwing his shin or his right knee to the boxer’s right rib. He could also opt to strike the boxer’s right rib with his right shin or knee. Alternatively, he can also hit the rib area using his left foot. The descriptions are simply reversed from right to left if the boxer happens to be a left-handed competitor.
Welcome to our website! I just saw a program on Discovery Channel talking about who has the best chance to win this Olympic Games in Beijing starting in a few days. So I realized I should write about it here.
The former champ of Olympics is of course the United States of America. However, China is being watched from around the world because this time might be a great opportunity for China to show the world that nothing China can’t do.
12 years ago, China was the forth in Olympics, 8 years ago it became the 3rd and at the last Olympics in Athens 4 years ago it was the second place…so what out the world…China might be the newest Olympics Champion for the first time in its own country.
What I saw on TV today is about how China and the US pick out their athletes. China, unlike any other countries today, decided who will become their best players since when they are in kindergarten, picking out from hundreds of thousands young children throughout China. On the other hand, the US will choose and support whoever perform best and send them to US Olympics College where they will be trained seriously for the great event.
Look at what China have done getting its country ready for this event. Lots and lots of money was spent to make China no second to any countries. China today is nothing like China a few years ago with all this grand and luxury.
The biggest Asian country of Chinese is appearing more and more in spotlight. And if this time, China wins the Games. I believe no one will have any doubt and question about the power of China. It will be proved to everyone that China can now do anything becoming one of the world best and powerful countries.
Within 20 days, we will all know the answer to this question.
Right now everything is all about Olympics! Just like the movie I’m presenting to you today. It is a story about a talented young Native American, Navajo, boxer who dreams to be an Olympics winner.
The film was written and directed by Rick Schroder and stars Eddie Spears, Russell Means, Julia Jones, Tim McGraw, Peter Greene, Wayne Knight, Tim Sampson and “Pooch” Marion Hall.
Black Cloud (Spears) is a skillful young boxer, second to no one. He was offered an opportunity to fight his way on to the Olympic Boxing Team. He defiantly declines, willing to fight only for his homeland, the Navajo Nation.

From what I see, Black Cloud did impress many viewers. One said “Incredible movie. Awesome hero. Great boxing scenes, gorgeous cinematography, funny jokes. Realistic & entertaining. (How often do you get that?) Good soundtrack” Wow he really likes this movie, doesn’t he? But I really agree. You don’t find all those in a lot of movies.
Everyone who made this film happen should be proud of themselves. The film is very inspiring for everyone.
It was released 4 years ago. So now you can look for it in a store near you or you can rent it. This drama is good to watch with anyone. Even good for kids.

Alright…I hope everyone is looking forward to this. The next Muay Thai lesson we are going to put here is Cherng Sok or in English “Elbow Method”. And remember this is a free lesson. Just consider us one free Muay Thai learning center or library for you to search and look for the thing you want to know about Muay Thai.
Today our lesson has moved on to the next Muay Thai weapon “Elbow” or in Thai “Sok”. There are 24 of them and now we are starting with the first one called “POONG HOK”. We’re using the same way we taught you “Cherng Mud”, making the method as clear to you as possible so you can easily follow along.
Too bad we don’t have the drawing of this move yet for you to see. However, we will put it here as soon as we get one.
POONG HOK is also known as Front Elbow. This move is used for either attacking or defensing. Here, the left elbow is thrown by the boxer to his opponent’s left ear. At the same time, he raises his left knee to strike the opponent’s rib. To maintain the balance, the boxer also has his right arm raised at almost the same level as the striking arm, and twists his body to the right to lend force to the knee blow.
The respond the attack of this move is to throw your left arm forward and pull down the right arm to protect the rib area from being kicked.
And watch out! As both arms of you are raised to both strike and maintain balance, your abdominal area is left vulnerable. The opponent will take this opportunity and advantage to deliver a blow to the abdominal area.
Last but not least, if you prefer to strike with your right elbow, just reverse the descriptions to the other side of the body. That’s all.
Don’t forget to visit us again in the next couple days for the next Cherng Sok lesson. See you then!
Only 7 days left to Olympics. I believe most of the tickets are sold out. Too bad I can’t fly there to watch the real deal. You know it is incomparable to watching it on TV in your own house. You don’t get to feel the excitement of the people at the stadium, the cheering voice and everything.
All we can do is talking about it. Cheering for whoever you like to win the gold medal. So that leads to our topic today, talking with your friend about the game. Asking your friend what he or she think who is winning.
I’ll put it in a really short dialog as usual to let you follow along and memorize it easily with the dialog. You are welcome to ask me any further questions about the topic right here below. The key word here is “to win”. In Thai we say “Cha Na”
What are you watching? = Kam Lang Doo Arai Yu
Boxing. I am a big fan. = Muay. Chan/Pom Pen Fan Tua Yong Lei
Who are you cheering? = Kun Cheer Klai
I don’t know really. They are all great. = Kor Yang Mai Roo. Took Kon Keng Mod.
And this two? Who do you think is going to win? = Laew Song Kon Nee La. Kid Wa Fai Nai Ja Cha Na.
Right now I think the red one. = Ton Nee Chan/Pom Wa Fai Daeng Na.
Alright, now you can talk with your Thai friend about the next big games coming. It wasn’t hard actually, even though there is slang like “Fan Tua Yong” which means “a big fan”. This time I don’t want to go deep in to the words here because it might make you more confused. This way you won’t be suffering learning a new language.
