Welcome back to our learning clips. Today’s move we’re presenting you is “The forward elbow thrust” or in Thai they call it “Sok Poong”. This move is relatively easy comparing to the uppercut elbow we talked about last time. The difference between this forward thrust elbow and the uppercut elbow is the direction you throw the elbow to hit the target. This move or the forward elbow thrust describes that the elbow is thrown directly forward in front of you to hit the target.
Targets for this Muay Thai technique are such as head, eyes, bridge of the nose, chin or brow bone. So to focus on this technique, you will have to throw or raise the attacking elbow forward (stabbing motion) to the aiming target or in this case the face area.
The common way to perform this move is to use the lead forward elbow. Here’s how:
First, weigh your body weight onto your left leg. Stand up and keep your body up straight while raising your left elbow in position to attack (bend the arm so the left elbow is pointing out forward and make the upper arm horizontal with the floor and fold the forearm back so that the fist is next to the boxer’s ear.)
Then, thrust the tip of your elbow fast with power to the target. To add more force to it, try to lean your body forward bending your left knee and extending the right leg while throwing the elbow.
Now let’s take a look at the video, shall we?
Still my recommendation especially for beginners is to do it with your Muay Thai trainer at the beginning since he will know exactly what you might have done wrong and correct you before you memorize the wrong technique.
Alright, I hope you like the video. I will be back with more Muay Thai video lesson. So don’t forget to check back for more and remember these lessons are FREE. Have fun training your Muay Thai. I’ll see you next time.
Welcome! How many times that you don’t find the perfect Muay Thai Shorts style you really want? The solution is why don’t you make one of your own or have it custom made to be exact. Twins Muay Thai offers you this chance to have your Muay Thai pants custom made right from the factory with the equal high quality as their other boxing shorts.
And there’s nothing to it really. I will walk you through step by step of how to create and change color and position the prints of your new Thai boxing shorts.
First go to the online store you rely on and find Twins Special Custom Muay Thai shorts option. Or you can click here to go to my favorite store .
What you have to do next is to pick out the model you like. The main idea is for you to pick out what kind of fabric and style of shorts you might want. Some factories might offer something else beside Satin so look out for that. But about 80 percent of Muay Thai pants are mostly made of Satin. Picking out the model you like, for instance, TWS-007, makes it easier to add and remove the printing later on, because some prints you might want to keep and some you might want to remove them.
Next, find out what size you wear. In most stores, there will be a size chart for you. My advice is to find a measuring tape and measure around your waist. It is highly recommended when you want to buy clothes online to have this tape with you, especially from countries that don’t have the same clothes standard as yours. For example, in Thailand they normally measure the size of their pants in inches.
Then, pick the color. Red, white, blue, black or whatever colors you want. Next is the numbers of printing positions you want for your shorts. Twins Special offers you to choose up to 10 positions on your Muay Thai shorts as see in the picture below.

Lastly, it’s time to add or remove the position and add or change the printing for each position.
For example,
Position 1: Add the word “Muay Thai” in Thai
Position 2 and 3: Add flame prints like the model TWS-003
Position 5: Remove “Muay Thai”
There you go. Now you can create your own Thai Boxing shorts. Isn’t that awesome?
The only disadvantage about it is that it will consume more time until the order arrive to your door. But I didn’t say it’s not going to worth it.
Have fun creating your Muay Thai shorts of your dream. See you next time.
Are you ready for this month free lesson? Muay Thai is not that easy for everyone to do. But a lot of practice and the willing to learn more will help you get there. So in this blog you will see free Muay Thai lessons written for you so you can study and practice your Thai boxing skill or use it as a reference. Alright no more talking. Shall we now look at today’s lesson?
As you can see that ancient Thai name for this move is “Kwang Pasutha”. But a better word to describe this Muay Thai technique is “Throwing a swinging back elbow”. I’m sure you have seen this move many times in many fighting movies and you might think it’s freaking easy to perform. Well, it’s not that easy but it’s not too hard for you for sure.
The technique produces a forceful swinging back elbow that can be use for attacking. Here’s an example you can use this move: When your opponent misses his targets, for instance, when he’s attempting to deliver a right punch, he will more likely want to come up closer to you by stepping in next to you. When this happens, do not wait, turn or twist your body to the side to face your opponent and throw a swinging back elbow to strike targets such as his face or his nape.
To the Attack: If someone use this swinging back elbow or Kwang Pasutha with you using his left elbow, raise your left arm up in defense to protect your face area. On the other hand, if the attack comes from the right that means he’s using his right elbow for attacking, you should use your right arm instead for protection.
To the Defense: If your opponent is using your left arm to guard against your left swinging back elbow, this is a good time to throw your left foot hitting your opponent in the rib. Again, alternate it by using your right foot if the boxer uses the raised right arm in defense.
Give it a try and as I used to recommend before, practice this with your Muay Thai training who knows well in case you do something wrong and is ready to correct it for you, so you don’t memorize the move wrong.
Hope you like the lesson and do not forget to check back for more of these free Muay Thai lessons. Have a good one!
Welcome! Last time I suggest a Christmas gift of a Muay Thai gear set which I actually bought for my nephew and I’m sure he will love it. So I have been looking around a few sport shops deciding what more you can give as presents especially for your love ones.
This gift should be good for someone who already started Muay Thai for a little while and is more likely to continue learning it further. I picked a set of training gears like Training Bag gloves, boxing mitts and pads. That’s why I said it’s more like for someone who’s already known a bit about boxing and want to continue. This Muay Thai Training gears set will be quite educational for whoever you’re giving it to.
