Hello and welcome to the blog! That’s right, today’s article is devoted to Learning Muay Thai video. A friend and I have shooting these videos series hoping that they will be useful for those of you who want to learn Muay Thai at home. The moves are in slow motion. So you will see how to do each of them clearly.

The Thai Boxing elbow chop or “Sork Sap” is used for impacting on targets like face, head and collar-bone. At the right moment, this muay Thai technique is pretty easy to execute and surprisingly cause serious result. Basically, what you have to do is to bring the elbow down vertically to hit the target. The variations are you can also use both elbows at the same time for this job calling “Double Elbow Chop” or “Sork Sap Koo”.

This Thai boxing move can be used only when the opponent is shorter than you or is stooping down.

and here is the double elbow chop.

There are two ways to prepare the elbow for this. First, a more powerful method, you can raise you whole arm up straight and bring the elbow down vertically to the target. Second, raise and bend the elbow so the fist is over your shoulder then bring the tip of your elbow down.

There are two types of Muay thai elbow chop. Either using rear elbow chop or lead elbow chop.

The rear elbow chop is used when you’re at the boxing stance (the left foot in the front and using left elbow for the work). You will need to twist your body round including your shoulder, hip and extended right leg to the left. Then raise the whole arm straight up and bring the elbow down vertically to impact the head of your opponent.

For the lead Muay thai elbow chop, you don’t need to twist the body. Use your left arm to deliver the elbow chop straight down to the target.
Alright, that’s it for today. Come back later for next Muay thai elbow video. They’re free! See you next time.

Let’s play mix and match with Top King

This is another fun thing I enjoy doing. Since I once in a while write articles about Muay Thai, I have to search the market too. I’ve seen thousands and thousands of boxing shorts and gloves. I kinda know which pair of gloves goes well with which pair of shorts. Wearing something that match is good for your look and I think that’s kinda important. Good clothing can make you look more professional. You know it’s true.

I never mix and match two items of different brands since on Muay thai items will have big brand logo on it. I think that kinda affects the pattern and the look of that particular piece. So I’m gonna do only Top King’s today.

Top King’s products are great, especially the satin Muay Thai shorts. The quality of the gloves are pretty good comparing to their price. Velcro straps help it easier to put them on or take them off. Beside almost everyone use Velcro straps Muay thai gloves nowadays.

Here are a couple pairs of item I matched:

Top King Boxing Gloves: Green

Top King Boxing Shorts: TKTBS-06

Muay Thai 24 Cherng Sork: Naka Kluen Gai

Welcome back you guys! So how are my friends so far? Have you been perfecting the boxing moves I wrote about in this blog? And have you notice, this is our 24th Cherng Sork already. When you’re back next time, we are starting with something else. I’m thinking Muay Thai Knee moves.

The last Muay Thai elbow move is called “Naka Kluen Gai”. I don’t know why but it’s how the ancient Muay Thai boxers called it in the past. The best word to describe this boxing technique is the “Spiral Elbow”. This is quite an advance move. Extreme caution is needed when performing this technique. Here’s how.

The Spiral Elbow is normally used for defense and for escape from incoming attacks. To be able to execute this technique quickly, the boxer or in this case you have to open both elbows outwards. Keep the points of both fists next to each other and then start throwing the elbows alternatively left and right to strike the opponent’s chin. Do it as fast as you can and it will create more serious impact to the target. Step forward when necessary to keep balance and to be in a good range to the opponent to attack. This move will make the opponent unable to shoot any counter attacks.

To the attack: You must protect your jaws which are the main targets of this move from the pointy elbow attacks by holding your arm up to guard the face area.

To the Defense: Concentrate and watch out for the time when the boxer needs to get closer to you. Strike his solar plexus or any midsection with a fast strong kick.

I hope this is useful and that you have enjoyed my free Muay Thai lessons so far. And yes it’s about time to move on to another Muay Thai technique next time. At the mean time, perfect this move with your thai boxing master and get ready to learn more right here. See you next time.

Let’s buy a boxing T-Shirt

Hi guys! Welcome back to our blog! There’s nothing much going on so far with me. I haven’t gone to the gym for a few weeks now. Got caught up with work and don’t know when it will be over. Hope I can go back to practice my Muay Thai in a couple weeks.

So this is what I do when I’m bored. I went through many online stores to look around something. And maybe if lucky I will buy something cuz you know that’s why we work. And then I find this.

Twins Muay Thai T-Shirt: Wai Kru Black

Looks pretty good, doesn’t it? What I like about this T-Shirt is the Wai Kru printing in the middle. Kinda different tho’. The Lumpinee Stadium, the word written above the Wai Kru picture, is the biggest Muay Thai stadium in Thailand. I have been there at the place when I visited Thailand last time and got to see a fight (a friend of mine whose uncle owns a gym took me there and I didn’t have to pay for the ticket yay!).

Anyway this model has another color, white. And I’m not really fond of white so if to choose between these two I would go with the black one. King’s t-shirts are ok. The one with the gloves and the Muay Thai word written in Thai are more like what I have in my mind. And the prices are the same.

King Muay Thai T-Shirt: Boxing Gloves Brown

Anyway I haven’t bought one yet but I wanna ask for your opinion. I want a T-Shirt that has some sort of Muay Thai printed on it. Or if you find something else online somewhere or maybe you already have one, let me know which one you got cuz I’m bored to dead now. I’m looking forward to your comments.

Twins Special Boxing Gloves Review

I personally have been using many brands of Muay Thai gloves, like Twins, Raja, Windy and Fairtex all made in Thailand. They are all different in my opinion. You can really say which ones are better than the others. I use a specific pair of Muay thai gloves for a specific purpose.

Twins Special’s gloves are great and work really well for me. However, the leather is not that thick as you think comparing to the more expensive brands. So I only use Twins boxing gloves for sparring not bag or mitts training. But other than that, they are perfect for me.

Another good thing about Twins’ gloves is the price. It’s reasonable comparing to the quality you will get. So their thai boxing gloves are ideal for new to intermediate fighters. Moreover, the factory sells so many different models of gloves not boring plain color. And I think that helps keeping the brand in the market. People love to have choices, right?

Twins Boxing Gloves: White

I bought this exact pair of White 14 oz. Twin gloves a year ago and they still look pretty good now. Plain white color always looks good and goes well with anything else. As I told you before, I have more than one pairs of Muay Thai gloves so I alternate them that explain why I’m able to use them quite a long time. Some say they use their twins gloves for only a few months and the leather get bad and wrinkle. That’s because they’ve been using them quite often, say 6 days a week. And I also think I’ve been using them for longer time because I always take good care of my Boxing equipment. For leather equipment I once a month rub with leather cleaner to prevent the leather skin from drying out and breaking.

Do you have Twins muay thai gloves? And what do you think about them?
