Hey have you enjoyed our boxing learning clips so far? I didn’t have time to put more in YouTube. I got all the video clips files on my computer but can’t find time to add them on YouTube. Anyway I think I’ve got pretty good feedback for our Muay Thai learning clips, so I will keep doing it until finish as many Muay Thai moves as possible.
Today’s boxing clip is called in Thai “Sork Kradode” or “Kradode Sork”. It’s great for targets like head, face or collar-bone just like the elbow chop in our last Muay Thai learning video but a little harder to perform. Basically, in this move, you have to use any type of elbow strike like horizontal elbow (I would personally recommend the elbow chop for this technique) while jumping in mid-air. The most successful hit is to jump as high as possible and strike the target just when you’re starting coming down or landing on the ground because with the body weight the strike is much more powerful. When landing, remain the position of your feet of the boxing stance. You can land both feet together or one at a time.
Here’s the step by step. Take off into the air as high as possible. Bend your knees a bit for extra power before springing yourself up. Twist the body to the left just like when you’re doing the elbow chop. And at the point of landing, strike the point of your elbow down on your opponent’s head forcefully and rapidly.
Alright, that’s it for today muay thai clip. Hope you like it. Give it a try with your trainer. Come back if you like the result! See you soon.
I’m pretty sure you have more than one pair of Muay Thai shorts in your closet. If not, I recommend you buy at least one more pair. For your own cleanliness and long time usage of the shorts. The original, and I think the best, Muay Thai boxing shorts should be made of Satin. What so good about Satin and many Muay thai fighters love is the soft cool feeling it gives to their skin. Too bad, satin is very delicate and knowing how to handle one properly will lengthen the time to use them.
Here’s a little knowledge about Satin. The fabric can be made of 4 different types of materials: silk, acetate, nylon and polyester. Each of them is different. Silk and acetate satin is very fragile that need very good care to make it last long, but on the other hand, polyester or nylon satin Muay Thai shorts are much stronger and easier to care.
However, the common thing about any type of satin is they won’t do good with sunlight. The sun will cause the color of your boxing shorts to fade quickly. Knowing this, next time consider and avoid leaving your satin Muay thai shorts in direct sunlight for a long time. Forget about drying your shorts in the sun for example. Air dry the cloths indoor is recommended for this job.
Satin is very soft and thin fabric so sharp objects like buttons or zippers can easily scratch it. So watch out for that.
Your Muay Thai Satin shorts can be machine washed, lucky us. However, here are things that you need to avoid with cleaning your muay thai cloths: heavy cycle function, strong detergent, and bleach. That’s because, the heavy cycle can rip your satin cloths, strong detergent and bleach will cause the color to fade. And if you hand wash them, do not twist the shorts too hard. Last but not least, always read the instruction tag on your shorts. And if you feel like you need to iron them, use the lower heat level as possible.

To remove stain from your satin shorts, for blood stain, for example, I simply soak them in cool water for a long while before wash them. It works well for me. If that doesn’t work or if for other type of stain that might be harder to remove, try using stain remover for delicates that doesn’t contain bleach. Remove stains as soon as possible after you notice them before they will become permanent.
Wow, can you believe it? Now we finally start with another important Muay Thai technique or let’s say now we have moved on to the next Muay Thai weapon “knee”.
Khao is a Thai word for “Knee”. You will be hearing or seeing this word for at least another 10 lesson articles. And I can assure you that they will all be great. These might not be what you’ve learned from the gym you go to. Most of these are ancient Muay Thai techniques. But, trust me that you will appreciate knowing them.
Learn them. Practice them. And use them wisely when the chance comes. You won’t feel sorry you found my blog.
Kumpan Poong Hok is the name for the straight knees move. It is used for attacking, defending and escaping. How to do it is pretty easy. The boxer must first bend his right knee raising and throwing it towards the left. Before hitting the target with this knee kick, the boxer should twist his body to the right. The focused targets are such as the opponent’s abdomen or chest if you manage to get your knee that high. The most important thing that you need to focus when using any knee kick is the support. Make sure you can keep yourself balanced by using your left leg. At the mean time, also guard any counter attacks by raising your arms up to cover your vulnerable areas.
To an attack: Move away from incoming knee by twisting your body to the left or right. Or the boxer can use his left elbow to protect his left rib from the coming right knee kick.
To a defense: Shift the body weight onto your left leg and throw a forceful right foot kick at your opponent. Reverse the side of the leg and foot if the other boxer is using his left knee for the attack.
I hope that wasn’t too hard to understand. This is the most basic knee move that every Muay Thai boxer MUST learn. I hope you enjoy Muay Thai so far. Feel free to write some comments on the Thai Boxing lessons articles below. All comments will help us heaps improve the blog and we thank you for that. Thanks for reading and hope you see you here again soon. Enjoy!
If you’ve visited our store recently, you might find out that we have just added new MMA grapping gloves in it. Got them from Top King Muay Thai factory a few months ago. So if you love MMA or like to start soon, a pair of these would be just perfect.
The trick for picking a pair of MMA gloves just like how to pick Muay Thai gloves. Make sure that you buy them from a trusty place and they’re the right size. Gloves are made for absorbing impact. Material is important for this. Cheap leather and thin foam layer underneath are not what you should look for. Good gloves will be durable and allow your hands and fingers to move quite freely but not loose.
For starter or for practicing, look for gloves with some relatively heavy weight for building muscles. For fighting, find the light ones which will be good for the speed in the fight.
These three pairs I chose to show them to you below are one of each 3 different styles of MMA gloves Top King has provided.

Top King Grapping Gloves Combat: Black/White

Top King Grapping Gloves Ultimate: Red

Top King Grapping Gloves Army: Urban Grey
I personally love the Ultimate style. I think they feel more firm when wearing or that just me I don’t know. But I would go for the white ones tho’ since I think they will go well with the rest of the outfit. Top King’s gloves quality is pretty good since the price is not that high comparing to other brands. But too bad Top King doesn’t have the ones with thick padding like Twins’ that would cost more. For starters I don’t think the padding is that important that you need to be worried about it right now. Anyway, I hope you like our new MMA gloves, check them out if you have time. Who knows you might find a pair that you like.
