Champion (1949) is an American film noir drama. This black-and-white film was based on a short story by Ring Lardner. It recounts the struggles of fighter “Midge” Kelly fighting his own demons while working to achieve success in the boxing ring. The film was directed by Mark Robson, with shooting by Franz Planer.

Plot:
It is the tragedy of a tough prize fighter who rises to the top of his career but can’t wipe away the scars of his deprived youth. In his fight back to get forward, middleweight champ Midge Kelly ends up cruelly using — and abusing — everyone close to him: his manager, the different women in his life, and, lastly, even his crippled brother.
