If you’ve visited our store recently, you might find out that we have just added new MMA grapping gloves in it. Got them from Top King Muay Thai factory a few months ago. So if you love MMA or like to start soon, a pair of these would be just perfect.

The trick for picking a pair of MMA gloves just like how to pick Muay Thai gloves. Make sure that you buy them from a trusty place and they’re the right size. Gloves are made for absorbing impact. Material is important for this. Cheap leather and thin foam layer underneath are not what you should look for. Good gloves will be durable and allow your hands and fingers to move quite freely but not loose.

For starter or for practicing, look for gloves with some relatively heavy weight for building muscles. For fighting, find the light ones which will be good for the speed in the fight.

These three pairs I chose to show them to you below are one of each 3 different styles of MMA gloves Top King has provided.

Top King Grapping Gloves Combat: Black/White

Top King Grapping Gloves Ultimate: Red

Top King Grapping Gloves Army: Urban Grey

I personally love the Ultimate style. I think they feel more firm when wearing or that just me I don’t know. But I would go for the white ones tho’ since I think they will go well with the rest of the outfit. Top King’s gloves quality is pretty good since the price is not that high comparing to other brands. But too bad Top King doesn’t have the ones with thick padding like Twins’ that would cost more. For starters I don’t think the padding is that important that you need to be worried about it right now. Anyway, I hope you like our new MMA gloves, check them out if you have time. Who knows you might find a pair that you like.

Hey welcome back! Can you believe the winter is over? But what the heck it’s never been my favorite anyway. And what am I babbling about here? Ok I’m getting to the point here. In my article today, I will show you my mix and match of the month. I chose the products from Raja Boxing.

Hello and welcome to the blog! That’s right, today’s article is devoted to Learning Muay Thai video. A friend and I have shooting these videos series hoping that they will be useful for those of you who want to learn Muay Thai at home. The moves are in slow motion. So you will see how to do each of them clearly.

The Thai Boxing elbow chop or “Sork Sap” is used for impacting on targets like face, head and collar-bone. At the right moment, this muay Thai technique is pretty easy to execute and surprisingly cause serious result. Basically, what you have to do is to bring the elbow down vertically to hit the target. The variations are you can also use both elbows at the same time for this job calling “Double Elbow Chop” or “Sork Sap Koo”.

This Thai boxing move can be used only when the opponent is shorter than you or is stooping down.

and here is the double elbow chop.

There are two ways to prepare the elbow for this. First, a more powerful method, you can raise you whole arm up straight and bring the elbow down vertically to the target. Second, raise and bend the elbow so the fist is over your shoulder then bring the tip of your elbow down.

There are two types of Muay thai elbow chop. Either using rear elbow chop or lead elbow chop.

The rear elbow chop is used when you’re at the boxing stance (the left foot in the front and using left elbow for the work). You will need to twist your body round including your shoulder, hip and extended right leg to the left. Then raise the whole arm straight up and bring the elbow down vertically to impact the head of your opponent.

For the lead Muay thai elbow chop, you don’t need to twist the body. Use your left arm to deliver the elbow chop straight down to the target.
Alright, that’s it for today. Come back later for next Muay thai elbow video. They’re free! See you next time.

This is another fun thing I enjoy doing. Since I once in a while write articles about Muay Thai, I have to search the market too. I’ve seen thousands and thousands of boxing shorts and gloves. I kinda know which pair of gloves goes well with which pair of shorts. Wearing something that match is good for your look and I think that’s kinda important. Good clothing can make you look more professional. You know it’s true.

I never mix and match two items of different brands since on Muay thai items will have big brand logo on it. I think that kinda affects the pattern and the look of that particular piece. So I’m gonna do only Top King’s today.

Top King’s products are great, especially the satin Muay Thai shorts. The quality of the gloves are pretty good comparing to their price. Velcro straps help it easier to put them on or take them off. Beside almost everyone use Velcro straps Muay thai gloves nowadays.

Here are a couple pairs of item I matched:

Welcome back you guys! So how are my friends so far? Have you been perfecting the boxing moves I wrote about in this blog? And have you notice, this is our 24th Cherng Sork already. When you’re back next time, we are starting with something else. I’m thinking Muay Thai Knee moves.

The last Muay Thai elbow move is called “Naka Kluen Gai”. I don’t know why but it’s how the ancient Muay Thai boxers called it in the past. The best word to describe this boxing technique is the “Spiral Elbow”. This is quite an advance move. Extreme caution is needed when performing this technique. Here’s how.

The Spiral Elbow is normally used for defense and for escape from incoming attacks. To be able to execute this technique quickly, the boxer or in this case you have to open both elbows outwards. Keep the points of both fists next to each other and then start throwing the elbows alternatively left and right to strike the opponent’s chin. Do it as fast as you can and it will create more serious impact to the target. Step forward when necessary to keep balance and to be in a good range to the opponent to attack. This move will make the opponent unable to shoot any counter attacks.

To the attack: You must protect your jaws which are the main targets of this move from the pointy elbow attacks by holding your arm up to guard the face area.

To the Defense: Concentrate and watch out for the time when the boxer needs to get closer to you. Strike his solar plexus or any midsection with a fast strong kick.

I hope this is useful and that you have enjoyed my free Muay Thai lessons so far. And yes it’s about time to move on to another Muay Thai technique next time. At the mean time, perfect this move with your thai boxing master and get ready to learn more right here. See you next time.

Hi guys! Welcome back to our blog! There’s nothing much going on so far with me. I haven’t gone to the gym for a few weeks now. Got caught up with work and don’t know when it will be over. Hope I can go back to practice my Muay Thai in a couple weeks.

So this is what I do when I’m bored. I went through many online stores to look around something. And maybe if lucky I will buy something cuz you know that’s why we work. And then I find this.

Twins Muay Thai T-Shirt: Wai Kru Black

Looks pretty good, doesn’t it? What I like about this T-Shirt is the Wai Kru printing in the middle. Kinda different tho’. The Lumpinee Stadium, the word written above the Wai Kru picture, is the biggest Muay Thai stadium in Thailand. I have been there at the place when I visited Thailand last time and got to see a fight (a friend of mine whose uncle owns a gym took me there and I didn’t have to pay for the ticket yay!).

Anyway this model has another color, white. And I’m not really fond of white so if to choose between these two I would go with the black one. King’s t-shirts are ok. The one with the gloves and the Muay Thai word written in Thai are more like what I have in my mind. And the prices are the same.

King Muay Thai T-Shirt: Boxing Gloves Brown

Anyway I haven’t bought one yet but I wanna ask for your opinion. I want a T-Shirt that has some sort of Muay Thai printed on it. Or if you find something else online somewhere or maybe you already have one, let me know which one you got cuz I’m bored to dead now. I’m looking forward to your comments.

I personally have been using many brands of Muay Thai gloves, like Twins, Raja, Windy and Fairtex all made in Thailand. They are all different in my opinion. You can really say which ones are better than the others. I use a specific pair of Muay thai gloves for a specific purpose.

Twins Special’s gloves are great and work really well for me. However, the leather is not that thick as you think comparing to the more expensive brands. So I only use Twins boxing gloves for sparring not bag or mitts training. But other than that, they are perfect for me.

Another good thing about Twins’ gloves is the price. It’s reasonable comparing to the quality you will get. So their thai boxing gloves are ideal for new to intermediate fighters. Moreover, the factory sells so many different models of gloves not boring plain color. And I think that helps keeping the brand in the market. People love to have choices, right?

Twins Boxing Gloves: White

I bought this exact pair of White 14 oz. Twin gloves a year ago and they still look pretty good now. Plain white color always looks good and goes well with anything else. As I told you before, I have more than one pairs of Muay Thai gloves so I alternate them that explain why I’m able to use them quite a long time. Some say they use their twins gloves for only a few months and the leather get bad and wrinkle. That’s because they’ve been using them quite often, say 6 days a week. And I also think I’ve been using them for longer time because I always take good care of my Boxing equipment. For leather equipment I once a month rub with leather cleaner to prevent the leather skin from drying out and breaking.

This is our 8th video already. Can you believe that? Only a few more of Muay Thai elbow to go and after that we will go on and start the Muay Thai Knee moves. Don’t forget the review the old video we have talked about here, Muay Thai punching moves and the previous Muay Thai elbow moves. Suggest your friends who are starting to learn Muay Thai. These Thai boxing learning clips will be useful for them.

Anyway, so today’s video is called “Reverse Horizontal Elbow”. It can be called in Thai “Sork Gratoong” or “Sork Wiang Glab”. This attack is great for hitting the side of the opponent’s face as the target. The elbow is thrown horizontally outwards or reversing and synchronizing the movements of your elbow, shoulder, waist, hip and leg for perfection to attack the target.

There are two types of reverse horizontal elbow. One is normally used as an offensive move and the other is as a follow-on move when the use of other elbow attack is failed.

The Rear Reverse Horizontal Elbow works great for a follow-on move. You can perform this when other elbow attacks like the elbow slash or the horizontal elbow is failed to hit the target. Turn it into an advantage by retracting the elbow back and impact the point of the elbow against to side of your opponent’s head. For example, if you’re using the right horizontal elbow and it misses the target, swing the elbow further to the left and pull it back forcefully to the right along the same path to hit the target.

The Lead Reverse Horizontal Elbow, on the other hand, is used as a direct attack since at this point you are much closer to the opponent or the target. Do it by twisting your left shoulder, including waist, hip and leg to the right with power before swinging them back bringing the ready elbow horizontally back to impact the target with the point of your elbow.

Do you hate that nasty smell when you open your Muay Thai training bag? The sweat from working out will stick to your equipment like gloves, handwraps or even head gear if you don’t know how to take care of the smell properly. Besides a good care will help the equipment last longer.

Sure if after every training you put your sweaty gloves or other stuff right back in your bag or locker, it will cause a very unpleasant smell. And who would love that? So the secret is if you don’t clean your equipment regularly, at least try to dry out your equipment a bit before putting them back and when you get home, bring those boxing equipments out to let it dry completely. Then you can put them away.

The best way to dry your leather Muay Thai gloves, or head gear or whatever Muay Thai equipment, just let it sit and dry in the room temperature. But who got the time right? Another good choice is to use hair dryer. Use the cool air until it’s just dry since hot air or too long drying time will damage the leather in a long term.

Letting the equipment dry before putting them away is a good start. But that doesn’t always get rid all the smell. You can do as what I do. Charcoals are great for absorbing anything like moisture or smell. So I put a good amount of charcoals in an old sock then put it in my training bag. Or if you use locker you can put it in your locker. If you don’t like charcoals and afraid it will dirty your Muay Thai equipments, you can always use something else that can help absorb the smell and moisture. Cedar chips work quite well for this matter too.

Twins Thai boxing head guard HGL-3: Black

Then it wouldn’t hurt if you also care of the outside of the Muay Thai gloves or Leather Muay Thai Head Guard or any leather muay thai equipment once in a while. I rub them with a little waxy (you can use leather cleaner or even cheap body lotion will also work for this job) to clean the outside and to soften the leather to prevent it from breaking so early.

These are nothing much to do. It requires only little time to care for your Boxing equipment but as a result they will last much longer.

Welcome! That’s right. Today’s article is all about Muay Thai lesson again. I hope you like the lessons so far. These lessons, if you have not known, are Muay Thai boran or ancient thai boxing techniques. Some of them are still used to day but some you might have not seen in Muay Thai anymore due to the fact that they might be too dangerous and won’t comply well with the Muay Thai regulations today.

Anyway, that doesn’t mean these are not useful. If you know more about ancient or history, it will help you learn more about the present. So are you ready to learn about this move?

The name of this Thai boxing technique is “Ruesee Bod Ya”. As I say before, it doesn’t matter why they called it that way. The most important thing is that you will have to know what it is and how to do it correctly.
The best way to describe this ancient thai boxing move is to throw the straight elbow to the opponent’s neck. The Muay Thai move is basically used for attack only.

To be able to deliver the elbow attack to the opponent’s neck, the boxer must be at a close range. Keep your boxing stance at balance by spread the legs relatively wide. And always watch out for any attack from your opponent since you’re in a reachable position that might knock you off from the balance. After delivering the elbow to the target, you can swing it up to strike the jaws.

To the attack: Twist your body and avoid the oncoming attack by moving back.

To defense: When the boxer raises his arm preparing to deliver the straight elbow attack, he will have to leave his torso open vulnerable. Take this knowledge and look for the open space for attack. Use your left or right knee to hit either side of the boxer’s ribs.

It doesn’t sound so hard, does it? But when it’s time to use, everything will happen so fast. Being prepared and ready for incoming attack or defending is the most important thing in Martial Arts.

I hope you have a great time practicing this Muay Thai move. See you in our next article.
