Welcome to our blog and of course to our Muay Thai lesson! Moving on with the Muay Thai Cherng Sok or how to perform Muay Thai with your elbows is what we are doing today. As we always do it, we start the lesson with telling you what it is and then how to perform the technique step by step. What you might want to do is to practice this a lot at home or even better you should practice this with your Muay Thai trainers guiding you really close. You have to understand is all we can do is guiding you what you can do, but the trainer can correct your mistakes while we cannot.
In the past this technique was named JAK NARAI. It’s a name of “Swinging Back Elbow”. Now it’s time to follow these steps below of how to do it.
The move is used for escape from an attack or for defense. You can first bend your right elbow in front of you and get your hand ready for a backhand drive. You have to be able to approximate your distance between you and your opponent before you use this move, the swinging back elbow, because you will be having your back to your opponent. Later you will have to put your right arm up to your opponent’s chin’s or chest’s level and turn your body so that your back is turned to the opponent. While doing this, support your weight with your left foot. You should quickly give your right elbow blow back to hit your rival’s chin or jaws.
The opponent should insert his hand through the fighter’s arm to try to pull down the fighter’s neck with his other arm. A knee should be thrown to the fighter’s chin or face as it is pulled down. If the fighter is a leftie, just reverse all descriptions above to the other side.
