Now it’s time for to teach you the lesson. Just kidding! Today is our Muay Thai 24 Cherng Sok day. We have been doing this for months now and still really think that these articles of Muay Thai Boran’s techniques or Ancient Muay Thai’s techniques we have collected and put them here for you will be really useful for you and for whoever that is deeply interested in Muay Thai.
Today’s Cherng Sok move or Muay Thai elbow technique is called in Thai name “KWANG SABAD NAH”. “SABAD NAH” in Thai literally means “to shake the head”. But of course we don’t shake our heads in Muay Thai or any types of boxing you know that. “KWANG SABAD NAH” is the name of the shaking elbow used in Muay Thai.
Don’t get confused yet. Here’s what it is and how to use it.
First choose which elbow you want to perform this, left or right. You can use this move when your head is in a low level, for example, just about under your opponent’s armpit level will do or whenever you can’t balance yourself and put yourself in a low position. Then when you think your head is in that level you can start performing this move.
Let’s say your head is now pinned under your opponent’s LEFT armpit. Push your head out and together freeing your left arm. Place your left foot between your opponent’s legs and put your back foot rear. From now, turn your body to raise your right arm and swing it downwards to hit your opponent’s left knee. You can also hit his facing down face back after you attack his knee with your right elbow.
To the attack: Try to hold your opponent’s elbow in order to prevent it from hitting your knee or face.
To the defense: Use your left arm, pull down your opponent’s head and use your right elbow to attack his face.
