Now it’s time for the most famous Cherng Mud move ever, HANUMAN THAWAI WAEN. I believe all thai people must have heard of it and know what it is. The reason why it is often talked about is its beauty. The move is totally gorgeous.

I’ll explain what it is and then tell you how to perform this move so you can do it by yourself. And at the end I have a drawing for you. It might not be the best drawing but it does help clearing things out.

Hanuman Thawai Waen is actually a pair of uppercuts. I call it the uppercuts combo! This crucial attack really takes a lot of practice and experience but it can be extremely effective when done with proper timing, force and distance. A pair of uppercuts is delivered to the opponent’s chin while the knees are forcefully raised with a sudden jump to hit the opponent’s chest. The move is used for everything: attack, defense or escape, you name it. And it is recommended when the opponent is caught with his guard down. Always focus on your opponent and think ahead which move you are going to perform. This can be a very lethal move if done with enough power. The power of the uppercuts comes from the lift which generates from the legs.

Notes: Avoid coming too close during the fight. When you sense that the fighter is preparing for this uppercuts combo or Hanaman Thawai Waen, move back to derail his approximation of the distance and to escape the deadly punches. In addition, move your elbows in front to protect your midsection.

To defense: Swing your right leg and kick the fighter’s left leg, or you can hit him with your foot. Follow this move up immediately with another quick move.
