First is called Bang Fai Phraya Nak or Naga Fireball
Date: 10-16 October 2008
This extraordinary miracle always occurs at the beginning of the full moon night in the eleventh lunar month. It can be witnessed along the Mekong River in the districts of Mueng, Phon Phisai, Pak Khat, Bung Kan, Tha Bo, Si Chiang Mai and Sangkhom. What you will see here? Bang Fai Phaya Nak is a term used for red and pinkish fire balls which is believed to belong to Phaya Nak or Naga or the great serpent of the underwater world. A lot of people always go to witness this occurrence.
Second is the Illuminated Boat Procession
Date: 9-15 October 2008
The festival was firstly aimed at paying respect to the Lord Buddha. But then the competition of the illuminated boat procession was organized to add more color to the event. The boats lined up in the middle of the Mekong River will create an impressive scene for all the viewers.
And the last one I’m presenting you today is a Wax Castle Festival in Sakon Nakhon.
Date: 8-14 October 2008
This is one of the biggest event in the end of Buddhist Lent or Ok Phansa Day in Thai, the assemble of the wonderful wax castle created by talented artists in the province. This is a great tradition of Sakon Nakhon people.
