Alright, are you ready to learn the next lesson of Muay Thai? We really want to give you the lesson for free. Right here you will learn all you need about Muay Thai. We are now in the middle of Cherng Sok lesson or the method of using your elbows as weapons, sometimes guards.
I’ll tell you what it is really soon and then I will continue with every move you will need to make. And in no time you will learn all about Muay Thai. Take as much time as you will need. This is why I don’t upload it back to back. I want to give you sometimes to practice the move before I move on to the next move.
Its Thai name is KHACHA TOKMAN, literally meaning “mad elephant”. The name really doesn’t explain the move actually. The move is also known as “Swing Back Elbow Strike”.
This move is used when your opponent is about to attack. The purpose is quite like the one of SAI LIEW LANG. It is used when he misses his targets on first attempt at a kick, elbow or fist. What you will do now is without going back to the boxing stance, turn your back to your opponent before him or her can make an attack. And when using this move, the swing back elbow strike, the target is mainly focus on your opponent’s face only.
To deal with an attack: Use your left arm to wipe the elbow coming to your face or use it to guard against the blow. Remember that the technique only targets the face, so you can either guard your face with your forearm or keep it back.
To a defense: Your opponent would be having his head skewed to the side to keep his target within eyesight, so a straight right blow can be driven to his chin or his neck.

Ok I gotta admit I really lost count now how many of Cherng Sok articles. But I can tell you that it’s not over soon. Cherng Sok is basically the Thai name for “Elbowing Method”. As you know that Muay Thai has 8 weapons all together, we have already talked and explained how to do “Cherng Mud” or “Punching Method”. Right now we are still working on Cherng Sok. And if you want to learn Muay Thai for free, don’t go away.
Our way of doing it is telling you first what it is because you wouldn’t know what it really is from the Thai name of the move. Then I’ll tell you in details how to perform the move.
Fa Lan is a way to protect the elbow with arm. This might sound a little weird so why don’t we start with the how to do it now.
This progress will be used just for defense when one is stepping back. All you have to do is bending your right elbow and step forward with your right foot and deliver a punch to your opponent’s face. After that, you have to turn your body and use your left foot to decrease the space between you and your opponent. Then you will use your left elbow throwing it to the left side of your opponent’s back ribs. If you can’t hit the target, that might be because of you are too far from your opponent. You can try to hit the other target for example abdominal area.
Dealing with the attack you can use your left arm to prevent the elbow from hitting your face.
Dealing with the defense: While you’re blocking the oncoming elbow, try swinging your left knee to hit the rib of your opponent. Meanwhile you can use your right foot to strike your opponent’s midsection making sure to follow this with a similar move.
Welcome to our blog and this article! Here we teach you to speak Thai, the official language of Thailand. You might want to learn this pretty well because if you want to come all the way to Thailand to learn Muay Thai for instance or to travel on your vacation.
I might not need to tell you anymore why you need to learn to speak a little bit of Thai, maybe just some phrases you think you will need just in case you are in a place that no one can understand your English well enough, not to talk about other languages. Anyway you can trust me that knowing some crucial phrases will be really useful.
Today I’m teaching you to tell you friends that you don’t understand them or what they’re saying and perhaps you will need to ask them to repeat that again in Thai. Let’s get started and see the phrases you might need to memorize.
I don’t understand = Chan/Pom Mai Kao Jai
By saying this you can add “You” or “What you’re saying” at the end. For example, for “I don’t understand you” you say “Chan/Pom Mai Kao Jai Khun” or for “I don’t understand what you’re saying” you say “Chan/Pom Mai Kao Jai Tee Khun Pood”.
Can you say that again? = Pood Eek Tee Dai Mai
Here are the vocabularies!
Understand = Kao Jai
Say = Pood
Again or One more time = Eek Tee
Remember: “Chan” is a pronoun for “I” if you’re a girl and “Pom” is for a guy.
Don’t push it too hard! If you don’t think this phrases are not helpful for you, no need to learn them. But next time I’ll be back with another phrase that you might need. See you next time!
