Hi guys! Welcome back to our Speak of Thai article at MuayThaiArt.com/weblog. We are here every week to teach you just a little tiny bit of Thai language that will definitely be crucial for you someday. And if you can recall, about a month ago we already taught you how to count from 1 to 100 in Thai already. I think now is a good time to learn further numbers.
But I wanna begin with a little review of the previous lessons to make sure that you can remember every number. So I’m gonna teach you again from 1 to 1,000,000 how to call them in Thai. Don’t panic, it’s not that hard.
1 Nueng 20 Yeesib** 100 Nuengroi 1,000 Nuengpan
2 Song 30 Samsib 200 Songroi 2,000 Songpan
3 Sam 40 Seesib 300 Samroi 3,000 Sampan
4 See 90 Gaosib 400 Seeroi
5 Ha 900 Gaoroi 9,000 Gaopan
6 Hok
7 Jed 10,000 Nuengmuen
8 Paed 100,000 Nuengsan
9 Gao 1,000,000 Nuenglan
10 Sib
So do you get the idea? So how to say 1,234,567 baht (Thai currency) is Nuenglan-Songsan-Sammuen-Seepan-Haroi-Hoksib-Jed baht. Practice a lot by thinking of lots numbers and say them out loud in Thai. It might be hard a few first times, but trust me it’ll get easier.
Which main vocabulary you need to know here? Start memorizing the first one to ten, then the words for hundred, thousand, ten-thousand- hundred-thousand, and million which are Roi, Pan, Muen, San, and Lan.
The important rule of learning a new language is you gotta be patient! Don’t rush it. Someone can memorize all these in 5 mins, someone take hours. So that depends on each individual. It’s ok to be a little slow as long as you still can do it.
